I travelled to Cambodia every year to see my daughter to lived there for a significant time. I met her friends and asked if I could make portraits of them. I was particularly interested in the demographic of white men from Western Europe who had left their lives at home to come to Cambodia to live.

I interviewed them after the photograph was made and summaried their account of how they came be where they were.

The idea of feeling free and unrestricted was a theme shared by these men.
